The Minister for Children and Social Care, Dawn Bowden MS, has launched a consultation on a proposal for the future development of Childcare Sufficiency Assessments (CSAs) in Wales.
The Welsh Government wants your views on how CSAs may be improved and made fit for purpose to meet the needs of all stakeholders. It focuses on:
- the format, content, process and planning cycle for the CSAs
- changes or improvements to the statutory guidance to support the proposed changes in regulations
- tools and resources required to support the development of the CSA.
The questions are aimed at:
- practitioners and policy makers who are either involved in undertaking the CSAs or who’s policy area interacts with the CSAs
- those who are directly involved in providing childcare or organisations representing the childcare sector, for example, providers (potential and existing)
- those who benefit from the childcare on offer, such as parents, carers, and employers.
Responses can be submitted by completing an online form, or by email or post. All responses will be analysed and a summary published in the Winter 2025.
Closing date to respond to the consultation: 17 October 2025.
