The Raising the Nation Play Commission, an independent inquiry into the importance of children’s play and how it can be restored in England, has published its final report.
Everything to Play For: A Plan to Ensure Every Child in England Can Play calls for the UK Government to establish a National Play Strategy for England. It warns that cuts to clubs and playgrounds, busier roads, and fears about safety have left children in England with fewer safe places to play.
The Raising the Nation Play Commission was launched in June 2024. It is chaired by entrepreneur and author, Paul Lindley OBE, in partnership with Baroness Anne Longfield CBE, the Executive Chair and Co-Founder of the Centre for Young Lives.
