Playwork – what’s so special?

This information sheet is aimed at anyone with an interest in learning more about playwork and the role of the playworker.

It provides an overview of what is unique about playwork and the role of the playworker and describes how playworkers facilitate children’s play. It explains how playwork relates to the Playwork Principles and explores the impact that playworkers and their involvement have on children’s play and play spaces. It also provides a checklist for facilitating a play space.
