Right to play workshop

Author: Play Wales
Date:
September 2024

This workshop is designed for playworkers, participation workers, youth workers and school staff to run in schools and other structured settings. It can be used by anyone with a working knowledge of how to support and facilitate children’s play using a playwork approach.

The Right to play workshop aims to raise awareness about the right to play. It also aims to empower children and teenagers so they can make the case for better opportunities for them to play and meet up with their friends.

The workshop links to the Curriculum for Wales and Estyn’s Common Inspection Framework. It also includes a range of resources that can be used during and after the session including:

  • a workshop session plan
  • notes for facilitators
  • ideas for curriculum development.

The Right to play workshop can be delivered on its own, but it is also a useful way to start engagement with a school.
