The Masonic Charitable Foundation is offering small grants of up to £5,000 and large grants of up to £60,000 for those working to support children up to the age of five. The early years grants are available to charities and projects whose beneficiaries are in England and Wales.
The foundation is particularly interested in targeted interventions that support children in this early years age group who are living in the most disadvantaged circumstances due to poverty and who may be at risk of or are experiencing neglect.
Two types of grants are available:
Small grants range from £1,000 to £5,000 per year, for up to three years, which are unrestricted and do not have to be used on a specific purpose. These grants are for smaller charities whose annual income is between £25,000 and £500,000, according to the latest published accounts.
Large grants usually range from £10,000 to £60,000 in total spread over one to three years. Large grants are restricted for specific projects with defined goals and budgets, and may be spent on, for example, salaries, equipment, training, monitoring and administration. These grants are for larger charities whose annual income is between £500,000 and £5 million, according to the latest published accounts.
There is no closing date for either grant programme.
