The Welsh Government has published its Early Childhood Play, Learning and Care (ECPLC) Plan – Annual Infographic. It was published jointly by Dawn Bowden MS, Minister for Children and Social Care, Lynne Neagle MS, Cabinet Secretary for Education, and Mark Drakeford MS, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Welsh Language.
The new infographic highlights the progress made on actions set out in the ECPLC plan to develop play, learning and care for all children between 0 to 5 years old. It addresses quality of provision, access to provision and supporting and developing the childcare, playwork and nursery education workforce over the last year.
Actions highlighted by the infographic include:
- providing £5m capital funding to local authorities in 2025-26 to support children’s inclusive access to play opportunities
- developing an enhanced leadership series of anti-racist learning for childcare, playwork and nursery education leaders
- publishing a refresh of the Wales – a Play Friendly Country statutory guidance for local authorities.
The infographic also sets out what else the Government will do to deliver the plan up to the end of the current Senedd term in May 2026.
