Following its consultation on the National Minimum Standards (NMS) for Regulated Childcare for children up to the age 12, the Welsh Government has published a summary of responses.
The Consultation – summary of response highlights broad support from across the childcare and play sector to the proposed changes, demonstrating a shared commitment to ensuring access to high‑quality, safe and nurturing childcare in Wales. Alongside the summary, the Welsh Government has published an Integrated Impact Assessment, providing a clear assessment of the social, economic and wellbeing impacts of the proposed changes.
These insights will now shape the next phase of work as the Welsh Government works with partners and the sector to finalise and implement updates to the NMS.
In a written statement, Dawn Bowden MS, Minister for Children and Social Care, thanked everyone who contributed to the consultation: ‘Your feedback has been invaluable in helping us shape standards that are relevant, proportionate and fit for purpose, both now and for the future.’
