Using fun and engaging activities throughout the day, this free course hosted by Children in Wales will set out the theoretical and legislative framework for young people’s participation in Wales.
It will include techniques and practical tools that can be used directly with young people on an individual and group basis to include them as widely as possible in decisions that affect their everyday lives, including extending their involvement in organisational decision making.
Learning objectives:
- gain an understanding of children and young peoples’ rights in the Welsh context
- explore what participation means for young people of different ages
- have an understanding of the legislation and guidance supporting young person centred work
- gain skills for working with young people
- examine barriers to participation and possible solutions
- understand how to set up and run a Youth Forum
- develop an individual action plan for you to take this work forward.
The training has been funded through the Welsh Government saving your organisation the usual fee of £140 per attendee. This learning opportunity will benefit smaller organisations who struggle with funds to offer their staff training.
By continuing to offer these courses online, the training will remain accessible across the country, making it easier for people who have limits on travel or caring commitments, and encouraging a wide mix of people from different sectors and regions coming together in the same session to share experiences and learn from others.
When booking, please be mindful that you are able to attend.
