Building Resilience: Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences

This practical half-day course by Children in Wales is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), trauma and resilience, equipping you with the knowledge to better support individuals affected by early-life adversity.

By attending this course, participants will:

• gain a clear understanding of ACEs
• learn about the definition of trauma, its causes, and how it may present in individuals
• explore how ACEs and trauma impact health, wellbeing and development
• understand why ACE awareness is important in your professional role
• learn about the role of resilience in overcoming adversity
• identify key factors that help build and strengthen resilience
• increase awareness of Welsh legislation, strategies and programmes that support responses to ACEs and trauma.
