The purpose of this role is to provide high quality early language support for children throughout the county borough, targeted to the needs of families referred to the Resilient Families Service department.
You will be required to work closely alongside other team members including speech and language therapist, intervention workers and health visitors.
It is essential to have very good communication skills and the ability to converse with families and professionals clearly and concisely over the telephone, via video calling and face to face. You will need to be adaptable in your support to families.
The successful candidate will be required to:
- carry out early language assessments for children turning 15 to 21 month old, who have been referred into the service
- plan and deliver bespoke sessions, both virtually and face to face, including making home visits.
- deliver early language programmes in the community.
Holding either a QCF level 3 qualification in Children and Young People Health and Social Care, or its predecessor the NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People, or having the ability to achieve the QCF within 2 years of being allocated an assessor, is essential for this role.
You will also hold relevant speech and language training such as Elklan training and/or Wellcomm training.
You will also have sound knowledge and understanding of the issues facing children and families, child protection processes and procedures, and the ability to travel independently throughout the county borough if required to.
