The Deputy Minister for Social Services, Julie Morgan MS has announced the launch of the Welsh Government consultation on professional registration of the childcare and playwork workforce.
The consultation is seeking views from those managing or working in childcare and playwork settings across Wales. It includes questions regarding whether the childcare and playwork sector should have a workforce register and if so, who should be included in that register.
Play Wales is keen to support playworkers and managers to respond to this consultation. It is crucial that those working in the playwork sector share their views. At this stage the consultation is focusing on:
- whether or not there should be mandatory registration for playworkers
- who should be registered
- timescales.
Please look out for opportunities to join focus groups in the coming months to discuss further.
