A playworker’s guide to risk

Author: Play Wales
Date: June 2018

This information sheet is aimed at playworkers and is also useful for anyone with a responsibility for providing children with opportunities to play.

It explains how to use the widely supported risk-benefit assessment (RBA) approach in play settings to manage risk in a balanced way and explores related legislation. It also lists available support, and looks at some of the playwork theory that supports effective playworker practice to increase and improve children’s opportunities to play.
