Play Action International has launched an appeal to enable families to donate shoe boxes full of toys and play materials for children fleeing the Ukrainian crisis. In addition to toys, each Play Box will include a trauma support guide for parents to help their children process what they are experiencing.
The aim of the appeal is to gift at least 50,000 play boxes to Ukrainian primary-school aged children to help them recover from the conflict and trauma they have suffered. The boxes will be distributed to children seeking refuge in the UK and in Eastern Europe.
Play Action International said:
‘From our experience of working with over 250,000 refugee children, we know that play is one of the best ways for children to begin to recover from trauma.’
