Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) has temporarily suspended publishing ratings for its inspection reports for childcare and play services. The temporary suspension came into effect on 19 January 2022.
CIW recognises the current pressures on providers caused by the pandemic and is mindful that Welsh Ministers recently allowed for the temporary relaxation of certain requirements of the National Minimum Standards for Regulated Childcare for children up to the age of 12 years.
Announcing the change, CIW said:
‘We remain firmly convinced of the value of published ratings in conveying a clear message about the quality of provision and in helping to promote improvement. Consequently, we will keep this decision under close review and plan to resume publishing ratings again in April.’
