Police recorded road collision statistics covering July to September 2024 show collisions on Welsh roads at their lowest level for that quarter since records began, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The figures published in January 2025 also provide the first year of statistics since the default 20mph speed limit was introduced.
The combined statistics for roads with 20 and 30mph speed limits show there were around 100 fewer people killed or seriously injured in the 12 months after the 20mph default speed limit was introduced. This is compared to the same period a year before the 20mph speed was introduced and equates to a 28% reduction.
