The Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) Self-Assessment of Service Statement (SASS) will be available online on 31 January 2023. It is a legal requirement for all childminders, childcare and play providers in Wales to complete a SASS. The deadline for submitting the SASS is 28 February 2023.
CIW does not produce a paper copy of the SASS form. Childcare providers will need a CIW Online account to complete the SASS. Those who have not yet set up a CIW Online account need to take urgent action to do so.
The SASS will inform CIW about the service being provided and the system being used to monitor, review and improve the quality of care given to children. It will help CIW to plan their inspections and to advise Welsh Government about the state of the childcare and play sector in Wales.
