The Health and Social Care (Wales) Bill was laid before the Senedd on 20 May 2024. It covers a range of amendments to existing legislation around health and social care, including changes that will impact on playworkers and childcare workers.
The Bill proposes to amend the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016, to include childcare workers and playworkers in the definition of ‘social care worker’. The aim of this change is to provide a clear mandate for Social Care Wales to carry out its functions in relation to the childcare and play workforce.
The Health and Social Care (Wales) Bill will now be scrutinised by the Senedd.
