Explore Play Wales
Scope, a disability equality charity in England and Wales, is calling on the UK Government and the Welsh Government to invest in a multi-million-pound inclusive playgrounds fund. Scope is asking supporters in England and Wales to sign nation specific open letters addressed to the respective governments.
Scope is calling for every child to have an equal chance to play. Currently, disabled children face barriers, including lack of inclusive and accessible playground equipment.
In the open letter to Julie Morgan MS, Deputy Minister for Social Services, Mark Hodgkinson, Chief Executive of Scope says:
‘All children should have equal access to playgrounds, and that needs Government support. That’s why Scope is calling on the Government to introduce a new £7 million Inclusive Playground Fund. This fund will be used by councils to create inclusive playgrounds where all children, disabled and non-disabled, can play and form memories that last a lifetime.’
